Old Bones & Cold Weather......

Hello friends, sorry no post last night (you probably didn't even notice) but I wasn't feeling very well & just really didn't have the energy. This cold weather is kicking my butt.....

I felt like this little lady when I woke up yesterday morning and knew when I set my feet on the floor & they just didn't want to cooperate with me that it was going to be a stinker of a day.....sometimes my Rheumatoid Arthritis flares up & I can't get out of my own way :/



We went out, yes in the cold I looked like an Eskimo! Mr. P came with me to the market, he knew I wasn't feeling so great, we did our shopping and then back home...put it all away. I straightened up & did my laundry & by 1:30 felt & looked like this guy!!! Sometimes when I have a "flare-up" I get a fever and a fever is what came on yesterday afternoon...I was miserable :( but, my faithful 100lb lapdog snuggled right up to me and we kept each other nice & toasty!!

so there went all my big plans for a fancy Saturday night dinner, we were going to go out to this new place, The Stoneforge ~ oh well there's always next weekend.

I haven't felt like this for a long time and for that I am thankful, I slept all afternoon ~ Mr. P entertained himself, he has a little workshop down cellar and he was busy making homemade arrows to try out at the range! I think he thinks he's Robin Hood, LOL!!! Oh well, it kept him quiet!

Billy called me Friday morning, he had to get another Anthrax inoculation and it made him sick, poor fella!!! He said he wished that I was just a bit closer so that I could make him some hot soup & a grilled cheese! He called back last night and was feeling much better, but said "ma, it sounds like you're not feeling good..are you o.k." cute fella, he said he wished he was closer so that he could come check up on me and make me some hot soup!!! Ah, I just love that kiddo so much.

Well friends, I'm off... have a few things to do & then I'm parking my butt in front of the fireplace with a good book & a mug of steaming hot tea!

Walking My Way To Skinnyville.....

I ordered this today!!! I cannot wait for it to come in, it was a Today's Special Value on the Q & I've been looking for a good workout video...this one comes with 7 DVDs, Booster Cables for resistance training while you walk & a meal plan...I figured it couldn't hurt & Mr. P will be walking along with me OR ELSE!!!! Because of my neck & hip problems my Rheumatologist said no jumping up & down, yeah like I'd be jumping????

I had to go for my yearly mammography this afternoon, don't I know how to have FUN, LOL! I'd like to meet the man(yes I said man)who invented that blasted machine....YOU KNOW A WOMAN DIDN'T INVENT IT, NO WOMAN WOULD BE THAT CRUEL TO HER FELLOW SISTERS!!!! I'd like to find him and put his YOU KNOW WHAT in it and give it a good squeeze, "hold it, hold it, hold it.....how ya doing honey, relax now ~ o.k., go on and rest the other one up there" HE'D BE RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD SCREAMING!!!!!



Oh well...the wind is howling here tonight & it's going to drop down to -10 YIKES!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. President,

I know that you are busy doing whatever it is that a President does or doesn't do......so I won't take up much of your time. Let me start by introducing you to someone very special to me, ...what's that, you don't' recognize him??????

Let me try again.... NO????!!! Well, you are busy after all, I guess it would be silly of me to think that you would know everyone that works for you....

His name is Billy, he's a Corporal in the United States Marines, greatest fighting force in America...still don't recognize him???? He's my son & he's been in Okinawa for exactly one year and he still has one more year to go, don't you think that's a long time for a momma to go without seeing her son????

So I was wondering, could you find it in your heart to send him home for a bit, you've got plenty of others Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines ~ don't you? I'm not asking for too much, just a few weeks.

Think about it, you can get back to me at your convenience ~ but make it SNAPPY!!

Shop I Did......

I picked up this cute teapot on clearance, it's a Kitchenaid. Strange that's the one thing I do not have, oh that and a pressure cooker

~ those scare me. My girlfriend Barb is trying to talk me into ordering the one that she bought, it's digital....Seriously, I am so scared of those things. We went to my mother-in-laws for dinner once a longgggg time ago, Billy was just a baby. Anyway, she was making corned beef & cabbage in her OLDDDDDDDD pressure cooker (surprise, she's scared of them too) she had it out in the garage set up on a cabinet ~ Well we were only there for a few minutes and what do you think we heard??????

Yes, a loud explosion...the lid didn't fit correctly, the gasket was all worn (it belonged to her mother?????) and well needless to say we had Pizza & Greek Salad for St. Patty's day that year!

Mr. P was wating up for me so he could show me the new latch for the dishwasher...it will be fixed tomorrow ~ YAHOO!!!

I have a few things to get to before I settle in for the night, so friends....

Wind Rain & More Wind................

Yikes.....it was rainy and windy here ALL DAY LONG!!!! I have to drive over the Braga Bridge every day to get back & forth to work and let's just say that when it's really windy out I'd rather not!!! The bridge is just over a mile long and at it's highest point is 135 feet from the water, not a huge bridge but BIG ENOUGH when the wind is gusting a 60+ miles an hour :(

On the way home it was SOOOOO windy, I kept waiting for Miss Gulch to go peddling by on her bicycle ~ LOL

Got home and had to go look for my Marine yard sign that blew away, hmmmm I think I rememebr asking a certain someone to take them in!!!!! MEN!

I do not like the wind when it's late at night and the brancehs bang on the side of the house of scratch at the window ~ ekkkkkk!!!!! I'll be hiding my head un der the covers tonight!!!

Well, I'm off PM Style is on the Q & I'm going to go watch and well yup probably SHOP ~ HEHEHEHE.

Needing A Makeover.....

Krissi & I will be having Nikky's Bridal Shower here, we were trying to be so sneaky we picked out a date she sent out a few text messages and we thought we were "Good To Go" that is until I realized my notes from our Wedding Planning Lunch were face up & the Bratty Bride To Be was reading everything I wrote down ~ GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Well, it's still a go...not sure what we'll do about picking a new date BUT....back to my original thought!!!!!

My sun porch needs a makeover.....and I'd like to get a few chairs or maybe a rattan loevseat and a rocking chair for out there...make it really cozy. I need a big box that I can cover & use as an ottoman ~ you know so I can keep all of Lexi's little toys stashed away when she's not here!





So many decisions.....Cindy stand-by because I may be calling you for a recipie or two :)I think we're going to do a Wedding Shower Brunch & I know you've got lots of yummy recipies!!!!

Today was a good day, we were able to get a lot accomplished...check lists made, projects divided up between Krissi, Sylvia, my mom & Me.

Nikky & Mike have decided on a Red Velvet cake, I am so excited :) ~ she previewed her dress for my mom, she was the only one who hadn't seen her in it ~ Tears, I know what she was thinking....if only Papa were here to see her being given away...

she went right to the food pantry and found her box of kooooooookieeeees (baby talk for cookies) she loves to carry around the little bags in her pocketbook!



her new Baby, picked him up at Kohl's the other night, she found him upstairs hidden in a bag, very clever little girl :) I'll just have to get her the big fluffy puppy for Valentine's Day!

Such a fun morning, next week I promised her that she could swim in the tub....so I'm on the hunt for Tubby Toys!

Walmart????????

I needed a few things on my home tonight so I stopped off at Walmart :) Such fun!! Bought paper towels, Soft scrub, Comet Shower Cleaner, Tilex, Windex, Bleach, new scrubbers, napkins and EVERY BOX OF 100 CALORIE Snacks they had ~ LOL!

Not really, but I did get a few...they had a few new ones...





just to name a few ~ Yummy!!

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now

Saturday Lunch......

I'm having little lunch here on Saturday afternoon, to go over wedding plans....One of the items on my To-do List is done, whew!!!! Dress is all set, picked out, bought, and is now hanging in Billy's room ~ we just need to make appointments for fittings...but we'll get to that in time!!

Krissi has been in contact with a few florists in North Carolina that the Wedding Coordinator referred us to so she'll be bringing all of the info :)

Nikky & Mike have already contacted a bakery they just have to pick the flavor (I REALLY LOVE CHOCOLATE, hint hint) we're taking care of that expense for them.

We're going to toss around ideas for gift bags for their guests, to have ready for them in their rooms when they arrive. My girlfriend Mary & I will transport all of that stuff down there and put it all together....

I guess we're going to be making a giant To-do List and split it up I CAN NOT WAIT, so exciting!!!!

I also have a very special gift for Nikky "it" was mine I can't tell you about it just yet, but I talked to Mike & Krissi and they both think she'll love it...so we'll see I hope so!!!

I'm nervous about finding the perfect dress for me, eeekkkkk!!! I love to shop but somehow always manage to have such grand ideas that I can't ever live up to so hmmmmm, yeah! I have a picture in my mind so now I am on the hunt ~ LOL!!!

Well, I'm sure I've probably put a few of you to sleep with my babbling....so I'll be off!

Mediterranean Lasagna.....

This is a Weight Watcher recipe and is just so good, it serves 8 and is 5 points per serving & it was "What's for Dinner Tonight" :)

9 no boil lasagna noodles
1 10oz package of frozen spinach thawed and drained
1 15oz container of part skim ricotta cheese
6oz feta cheese (I use reduced fat, but if you can't find it don't worry about it)
1 8oz package of reduced fat mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 26oz can of Hunts Spaghetti sauce, I usually use the Garlic & Cheese flavor
1 egg
pepper, oregano, added to ricotta cheese

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix Ricotta, feta, 4oz of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, spinach & spices together. Spray a 9x13 pan with non-stick spray, spread a few spoonfuls of sauce on the bottom of pan. Place 3 lasagna noodles on the bottom of the pan, spoon half of the mixture over the noodles and spoon on more sauce. Layer on 3 more noodles, spoon on the rest of the cheese/spinach mixture and some more sauce. Top with the remaining 3 noodles, pour the rest of the sauce evenly over the top & sprinkle on the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil (careful not to let the foil touch the cheese) and bake for 30 minutes, uncover and bake for another 10 - 15 minutes until cheese is golden brown & bubbly.

So good, this recipe is very easy to double :) ~ I serve it with a nice big salad & some sparkling water ~ YUMMO !!

Let me know if you try it, it's easy which is nice and can be reheated without any trouble!! My kind of dish ;)

Woe is me, I'm STARVING TO DEATH!!!! I had a really good dinner, counted my points wrote everything down what is wrong with me????? I'll tell ya what SKINNY PEOPLE STINK, I wish the skinny people were trying to look like the chubby people ~ Chubby People of The World Unite!!! I just do not want to be on a diet tonight....I must have pre-PMS because I could chew my own leg off!!!

Well, I'm in quite a predicament because I know that there isn't any chocolate cake downstairs on the counter so IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG NIGHT here at the 173 :/

Rain Rain Go Away.....

Well, I guess it's better than snow! Not much to report here today, cooked a few things for the week, finished up the laundry, ironed, vacuumed AGAIN!!!! Like I said, not much to report here today.

Billy didn't call back, they have a 96 this weekend so maybe he'll get a chance to call again tonight, I hope so.

Nikky, Sylvia, that's Mike's mom & Krissi, the maid of honor will be coming for lunch next Sarurday and to discuss wedding plans. I'm looking forward to that, it should be fun...Nikky had always amazed me from the very first minute I saw her beautiful little face :) she is such a joy to me & I love her so much! I want her to have such a nice day to remember!!!

Well, I have a few more things to do on my so, I'm gonna scoot!

Oh When The Saints Go......

Marching In, Oh when the SAINTS GO MARCHING IN!!!!



yup, you guessed it & no I am NOT A BAND WAGON JUMPER!!!! Next to the Pats I am a Saints FAN ALL THE WAY!!! When the Saints played the Pats this year it was a hard game to watch, I love them both and I think I may just love the Saints a bit more :)

So as you can probably tell I really didn't do much since it was a 4:30 game & i had to see all of the pregame, yes I'm a geek...I love Football, thank you Billy!!!

Billy called this morning, he sounded down & that makes me feel sad. He was Duty Marine, so he was coming off of a 24 hour "Fire Watch", said he was going to sleep & then hit the gym, lift, PT with Kat & Norris, run, play basketball...yikes I needed a nap after I talked to him!!!! YES HE REALLY WILL DO ALL OF THE PHYSICAL THINGS HE TICKED OFF ~ Very MOTO Marine!!!

We tried a new wine with dinner, which I will post up tomorrow ~ very yummy & healthy!!!



It is a sweet wine which I love, my favorite is a Riesling from Germany & I have a bottle chilling as I type :)....but this one was really good, I only wish I had a big slice of chocolate cake to go with it!!
