I had to run out to Seekonk to pick up some pants I had dropped off at the tailors to be hemmed & well as I was passing through I spotted a new consignment store ~ The Corner Consignment! Ladies, it's in the cutest little house you could ever hope to see & they have rooms full of the best "junk" ~ well take a look for yourselves!
I have always wanted a washboard, not sure where I'm going to put it just yet but will ya just take a look at it! I LOVE IT!!!! $7.99, don't ya just love a bargain?
I couldn't pass him up, he's now "nesting" up on top of my cabinets. What a pretty splash of color! $1.50 ~ YAHOO!
This sweet little wooden shoe, FREE YES YOU HEARD ME RIGHT FREE!!!! The gentleman threw it in when I commented on it :) YAY & THANK YOU SIR!!
This little tin, I love old tins & it is now sitting nicely with the rest of my collection up over the stove! $1.25...I had money left over!!!
Might be worth another trip next Saturday!
Got my Halloween candy & put it in my Trick-Or-Treat bowl. I hope we get a lot of littles this year!
Oh ladies, I worked my fingers to the bone today! I am very fussy about my kitchen & I have to have it just so! I took down the curtains washed dried ironed ~ washed the windows hung the curtains back up...washed the walls, the can lights, the fan, took down every single stinking knick knack. Washed them dried them, put them back up.
Ran to the market, back home put the groceries away & continued on with my housework. I am thinking about taking November 11th off that will give me two whole days to do the windows and the curtains in the rest of the house!
Then I am putting my Byers dolls & my white lights on the mantle and maybe even my candles in the windows...I'm the boss so I can decorate if I want too!! I want the house to look festive for Billy when he gets here for the Thanksgiving 96. He missed being home so much last year :? I am just so excited to have him here and to have our beautiful Ms. Nik & our handsome son-in-law Mike here. He's a big help Thanksgiving day, he loves to cook & he jumps in and helps with things! It is so funny to say our daughter and her husband, WHEN DID SHE GROW UP????
My kitchen during the overhaul & after, UGHH THAT'S A LOT OF STUFF!!!!!!!
Now I am going to relax & have a glass of "Eggnog" this is made locally and sells out fast. Ready made Eggnog, I have been holding off buying the real stuff! I just love it with some brandy & a sprinkle of nutmeg ~ MMMMMM HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Look at this crazy squash my mother-in-law sent over to me. Yikes it's huge! I will be slicing and dicing that up tomorrow. Cook it and then freeze it, I'll be making a yummy squash souffle with it!!
Congratulations to Ms. Bailey & Mr. P, they bagged a pheasant yesterday!! They were quite pleased with themselves! Mr. P tried to send me a few pictures from his phone but it doesn't take very good ones :/
She flushed it out, waited for her master to get his shot off and then waited for her command!!! She ran like gangbusters, scooped it up gave it a quick shake & trotted right back to Mr. P. Dropped it at his feet gave it a lick and a nudge and waited for a pat on the head and a "good girl" ~ YAY Ms. B!
Tomorrow they go for ducks ~ YUMMY!
My doctor had me stop Remicade for a few months, a few of my tests came back "questionable" so he stopped it, my last infusion was the week before Nikky's wedding :/ I am definitely out of steam and every joint is screaming...that's why I haven't been blogging regularly, I am just to tired when I get in. Last night I got home at about 6:30, fed Ms. B heated up my dinner and fell asleep on the couch waiting for it to finish up in the microwave ~ I never ate a bite & when Mr. P got up we jumped into bed and fell asleep until about 4:45 this morning! Hopefully the last round of tests that I go for in December come back o.k. so I can start up again in January! This couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time of the year!!!!
This was how I spent my Sunday...tried out my new mixer & I LOVED IT!!!! I made a white bread & a cinnamon swirl bread that I let rise and then froze, one of my Marines favorites so that will be thawed and ready to pop in the oven before we head off to get him the night before Thanksgiving from the airport...hot yummy cinnamon bread waiting for him after a long flight!!
Mr. P was so happy, he said that if he closed his eyes and took a deep breath he would have thought his Grammy Miranda had made dinner...That was the best compliment a girl could ask for. I made him a Portuguese (Yankee Pot roast) Pot roast with sweet potatoes & extra hot chourico & a homemade bread!!! He was smiling from ear to ear!!
I asked him to make a picture of me with my hot out of the oven bread...my mouth was watering & he had already cut into it :)
Nikky & Mike have a big Halloween Party coming up, it's 80/90's theme, should be fun!!! I hope that they put up some pictures...they are really enjoying being newlyweds & they are so cute together! They compliment one another and that makes me so happy to know that she is so loved!!
Billy & Katrina spent the weekend in South Va. half way for the both of them! He starts training next week :/ Good luck my beautiful son, I hope to hear from you soon! Billy has decided to travel up to DC for the Marine Corps Ball, he will be escorting Katrina. She went out shopping for her gown, no Dress Blues for that Marine this year ~ SHE WANTS A BEAUTIFUL GOWN!!! YOU GO GIRL!!
That's about it for my Sunday...
Until tomorrow, Be Safe & God Bless...
Please continue for our Marines & our Military....
1 medium onion, chopped 2 cups of mushrooms (I substituted an additional 2 cups of fresh green beans as I DO NOT EAT FUNGUS) 1/4 tsp paprika 1/4 tsp Bells Seasoning 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 2 cups frozen mixed veggies 1 cup chicken broth 3 cups cooked chicken breast 2 tbs flour 1/2 cup fat-free evaporated milk, divided
4 reduced-fat crescent rolls, unrolled ( the package makes 8 rolls, I just sealed the other 4 up and will bake them up to go with dinner, over the course of the week) Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Coat large pot with non-stick spray, add onions & green beans (or fungus if you are so inclined), and cook until tender. Stir in seasonings; add mixed veggies, broth & chicken. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes.
In a small cup, combined 1/4 of the milk with the flour, stir it into the chicken mix. Cook until thickened, once it thickens up stir in remaining milk cook for another few minutes.
Spray pie plate with non-stick spray, spoon in chicken/veggie mixture. Unroll crescent rolls and arrange around in side of pie plate to form a boarder (there will be a hole in the middle, that's o.k.)!
Bake until rolls are golden brown and filling is bubbly, about 15 minutes. Serves 6
I posted this recipe back at the beginning of the year, I made it for dinner this evening and let me tell you it was "STICK TO YOUR RIBS GOOD"!! It was so cold & windy here today & I wanted to make some comfort food & gals it was YUMMY!
Heather if you're reading I'm sure that you could make this Gluten Free with no trouble at all!
My Kitchenaid mixer came in last night ~ YAY!!! I am going to be baking some bread tomorrow a pumpkin bread ~ Thank you Kelly Kelly & a loaf of scrumptious good old fashioned white bread. Mr. P was begging me to bake a loaf of bread so I figured why not! I'll have to cut it in half and freeze it, if not he'll devour the entire thing!
Special prayer requests for "Dark Horse" 3/5 Marines...They have lost 9 Marines in four days & they in the fight of their lives. Please pray for these young men and for the fallen & their families!!!
No image uploads until 5:00pm on Wednesday 10.20.2010 ~ WHATTTTTTT!
What is up with this blog of ours???
Mr. P returned from his trip up north this afternoon, he didn't get a deer :/ he took Ms. B out for a trial run. She did really well, they'll be going out for a nice long romp tomorrow & hopefully will be coming back with a few birds!
I was glad to see that Julie was back to blogging :)
Happy to know that you all still love me even if I am a bit silly ~ LOL!
Making my holiday todo list, need to get things in order around here so that I can get my dolls & light up by mid November & get my house in shape for our Holiday Festivities oh and for our VIP, yes that's right our VIP Cpl Platt will be home for the Holidays this year ~ YAY YIPPIE YAHOOOOO!!!!!!!
Oh boy, what a LLLLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGG day today! YIKES! Leave for work and it's dark out, arrive back at home after a long day & it's dark out! This time of year I start turning every light in the house on & leave them on until I go to bed :? it makes Mr. P crazy but I don't care, I can't stand the dark...actually I am afraid of the dark. Always have been ~ BOO!
Creepy things live under the bed and in the closet at night ( I really used to believe this when I was little)...I never let my feet stick out from under the covers and I pull the blankets up tight all the way to my ears!!! Crazy I know, I have always been afraid of the dark. I hate to have to get up in the middle of the night for fear of something grabbing my feet. I have never been able to overcome this silly phobia of mine! I sleep with the T.V. on because I don't like the quiet. I never turn it on all day long when I am home because I can't stand listening to it but as soon as the sun goes down the lights come on and so does the T.V.
I don't know why I am spilling the beans on this secret you'll all think I'm some kind of nutter!
Are any of you afraid of the dark????
Oh well, time to go from room to room turning off the lights and backing out of every dark room so that nothing can grab me & then sprint up the stairs to my bedroom ~ LOL!! Yes, I really back out of a darkened room, don't know why...just don't like to turn my back on a dark room! Here I go again, spilling more secrets!
I have been wanting one of these for a long, long time now & well today I went ahead and ordered myself one ~ YAY ME!! I can't wait until it comes in. Nikky & Mike have one, the girls that Nikky works with gave it to them as a shower gift. She was going to try it out the other night! I love to bake so I know that I will get a lot of use out of it! I ordered it in black as our kitchen is black & stainless steel.
Other than my new mixer not much else to report...laundry's done, ironing's done, dishwasher is emptied...what else, what else ~ hmmmm! NOTHING!
This old gal is pooped & since I have an opportunity to hit the hay early that's what I am going to do, so I'll see ya tomorrow, same time same place!
Sitting in my favorite spot by the slider, I like to sit here so I can keep an eye on things...spot those silly squirrels when they hop into my backyard ~ GRRRR!
We went out to the pumpkin patch this afternoon, I got into trouble for barking at the cows :/ they were stinky!
Mom & Dad picked out the pumpkins, I just ran around sniffing everything...we each got one & I got into trouble again when we got home because I tried to eat the stems. Who knew they were for decoration, don't put them on the floor if you don't want me to eat them!
After that we just hung out all afternoon, that's about it.
My mom is helping dad get his things ready for his hunting trip, I wanted to go but he's going for deer. I don't do deer, only birds! Looks like I'll be going out on Wednesday ~ WOOF WOOF!
Have a great nigt, Mom will be back tomorrow night!
Feeling HoHum tonight, not sad, not blue,....just feeling Ho Hum! Down right tired is more like it!
Each night it gets a bit cooler here, one of these nights we'll have to break down and turn the furnace on :/ UGHHHHHH!!!! Not looking forward to a heating bill, I like it HOT HOT HOT so it's going to be $$$$$ ~ LOL!
Ms. B is fussy, I'm cranky, Mr. P is waking up, these two gals are getting ready to hit the rack, that's Marine Talk for going to bed ~ LOL!
Didn't want the night to go by without stopping in to say HOWDY!
Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR) is a condition in which a small pool of fluid accumulates under the macula. A defect in the normally water tight layer beneath the retina allows the leakage of fluid which then collects under the retina. This forms a blister-like elevation which alters the function of the retina, and typically becomes noticeable when central vision is affected. CSR most commonly occurs in males in their 30’s to 50’s. The cause of CSR is unknown, although in some patients it is associated with corticosteroid use, including inhalers or skin creams. CSR has been commonly associated with stress or “type A” personalities.
Symptoms The symptoms of an eye affected by CSR are blurred vision, distortion, or a central grey or dark spot. Vision can range from 20/20 to 20/200. Color vision may also be affected.
I spent the day at a Retina specialist this afternoon with Mr. P, he has the CSR thingy....according to the physician most people don't even know when they have it and it usually clears itself up...Mr. P has all of the classic signs for a person having this problem, Type A personality, stressful job...I could go on and on!
The problem that we are facing is that based on all of the photos of his eyes this problem should have reversed it's self by now and where the pin sized hole is smack dab in the center of his retina ~ not a place that the surgeon wants to be lasering. He is hoping that it will go away on it's own. He is giving it six weeks unless his vision worsens, then he needs to call immediately.
Hunting season opens up this weekend and nothing is stopping him from getting out there :/ I may be going along for the walk as he is having a problem with depth perception too....UGHHHH!!!
I'll keep you posted, as for me. I am beat going to jump into my jammies and hit the hay!!
We had a great afternoon with Nikky & Mike, they came for dinner and stayed for a while to chitchat!
Roast beef & veggies were on the menu and it was yummy!
Billy headed up to DC, he and Katrina went to the Redskins game this after non. He sent us a picture fin their seats. I hope that they had fun, I can't wait to hear all about it! One if their close friends from Okinawa is stationed at Quantico so they headed down there yesterday afternoon to spend time with him. HE took them on a tour and then they all went to dinner together! He is there for six weeks of training before moving on to his next PDS, he is now MSG and will head out after his training is completed to an embassy. From what I understand the first part of that tour is done in hostile country so we will be keeping him in our prayers...
I am heading out to Wrentham Village tomorrow for a day of shopping with the girls, can you say Happy Happy LADY!!
That's right ladies, I am wearing my flannel pajamas tonight!!! This is no laughing matter, I a ccchhhhhiiiiilllllyyyyy (simulated chattering teeth) ~ making a cup of tea and going to curl up with my book & my pup. Poor Mr. P is already sound asleep, Fridays are a long day for him. He doesn't rest when he gets in from work on a Friday and he goes until he runs out of steam.
I'm reading Legacy, yet another book on the life of Queen Elizabeth Tudor. This period in time fascinates me. I have read several non-fiction books on the Tudors and just as many novels based on historical facts & I can't get enough of this family!
Billy is heading to DC for the long weekend to see Katrina & take in a Redskins game on Sunday afternoon. Nikky & Mike are coming for dinner on Sunday, can't wait to see them :) :) :) & I am hitting the outlets on Monday with a couple of my girlfriends, now you're talking baby!
Mr. P & little Ms. B are gearing up for the opening of hunting season. They have been out for several very long walks & some really good swims hauling the training dummies & she has done really well. Just a little limping when after she is home and has rested for a while but she shakes it off and then she's good to go! I think getting out there has been good for her, she is starting to trust that leg again :) Yay Ms. B I hope you bag a bundle of birds this year!Well, I am going to scram.
If it keeps raining I'm am going to be sprouting mushrooms from my head soon...I feel cold, wet, oh & CRANKY!!!
Ms. B isn't very happy either, she is a crank-pot & she wants to go to bed...I heard her down in the bedroom trying to get MR. P up so we could go get all snugly, we got a long wait ahead of us little dog before we can jump into bed :/
Rain is predicted again for Wednesday & all day on Thursday...but ~ the weather man keeps telling us that this will clear out for the weekend! Let's hope so!
Any big plans out there for the Columbus Day Weekend? Us, we're heading to the pumpkin patch ~ YAY!!! I love to go out there, we have been going to the same one for years now. They let you pick your own pumpkin!! Monday I'm hitting the outlets with Barb, Karen & the Katelin the Babe!! Barb & Karen are sisters & Katelin is Karen's little girl...we love to shop together & laugh all day long!
That's about it for me...
Mr. P's alarm just went off and Ms. B is already in the room barking at him to get up, just a bit spoiled!!
Chilly temps yesterday & today, I made a homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner yesterday & a banana bread. Nothing like the smell of bread baking in the oven and soup simmering away on the stove ~ MMMM MMMM GOOD!
The leaves have just started to change, next weekend I hope to get out and take a walk in the woods and get a few pictures of the trees. We are going out to the pumpkin patch too & you know that I'll be getting me a Carmel Apple ;D
Have you ever had a Mrs. Prindables Apple??? Now that's apple heaven, I made my own version a few years ago, not to shabby if I do say so myself!
Never got out to go junkin' yesterday, there's always next weekend!
Nikky & Mike came by this afternoon, I filled them up with some warm leftover chicken soup & bread! They are so happy together which makes my heart full!
Laundry is all done, clothes are ironed, going to make a hot cup of tea and curl up under my quilt and read!
Hope you all have a great night!
Until tomorrow, Be Safe & God Bless...oops, just one more thing, Julie's son Justin is HOME!!!!!! They are all down at CLJ as we speak ~ Welcome Home Marine, Thank you!!!
It's October 1st, can you believe it???? Well can you??!!
It has been raining nonstop here all day long...everything is damp & sticky!
The weather man says that after this passes it will be getting cooler, I hope so because I am sick & tired of the muggies and I bought all of the ingredients to make my delicious homemade Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner tomorrow night! I don't want to be eating hot soup when it's 80 & muggy :/ ....
Junkin' tomorrow & heading to the garden shop to pick up a few mums, time to get my fall decorations up ~ we'll see, maybe I'll just skip right over Halloween and put out my Carolers ~ HEHEHE!!
Ms. B is feeling lazy this evening and really wants to go snuggle with piggy & me, so ladies I'll bid you all "adieu, adieu, to you & you & you"....
Until tomorrow, Be Safe & God Bless.... OH ~ I ALMOST FORGOT NIKKY & MIKE ARE BACK HOME!!!!!!!!!!!
