Lights Camera ACTION.......................

Have you seen the advertisements for this movie?????? I just love the story, it's one of my favorites & I have the complete Byers Choice collection (I'll post some pictures as soon as I put them out)! Well, we're going to go and see this on Saturday night, I CAN NOT WAIT !

To me this story is the epitome of Christmas and it reminds me of my dad, he loved this story too. He passed away May 17, 1993, he was only 47.

This is a picture of my dad when he graduated from Army Basic Training, Fort Gordon, Georgia Company B 2d Bn 1st Regiment.

And this is my Marine, USMC Boot Boot Camp graduation ~ Parris Island, South Carolina India Co. 3d Bn Plt 3083, 3 October 2008.

Don't they look alike????? Such handsome Military men :)

I'll be thinking about these two a lot over the next several weeks, my dad just loved the Holidays & everything about them, and yes he was a bit of a Scrooge too. I think that's what makes me love the movie even more!

Nikky was the apple of my dad's eye. He just loved her so much, and he was so excited after being the dad to three daughters and then a granddaughter to finally have another "man" in the family. He loved Billy too, it breaks my heart knowing that he never got to see him grow up and become a Marine & that Billy missed out on knowing his Papa.

When Billy left for Parris Island I gave him a penny that my dad said brought him luck, it was mounted and turned into a "pendant" he wore it until he passed away. It was given to me and I gave it to Billy. He put it on the day he came home from Boot and hasn't taken it off.

So when I'm at the movies Saturday night I'll be thankful for the dark theater beacuse I'll probaly cry a bit thinking about my dad & my boy so far away.

Until tomorrow, God Bless!

  1. Well I think I should turn off the lights in my living room since I am crying now!! I talked with Justin today and I miss him so much and I get to see him way more than you do Billy! I just can't imagine not being able to see him!! Justin is due for deployment any day now and is packed and ready to go when they call! I dread that day...but we will get through this journey together! I am so thankful that we met along this way and that we have each other to chat with when things are tough! I would love to see this movie and probably will at some point! You have a great evening and you know ILYLAS!!!

  2. They are both so handsome and Billy looks so much like his Papa! I am like Cindy and can't imagine how you get thru all the time without seeing Billy. Thank God for the internet! We are spoiled in that we get to see Justin so much but we realize that will probably change soon:( I love the story about the penny and I know that it warms his heart to have it and knowing where it came from. Have a blessed day and enjoy the movie and the weekend!

  3. Yep, I can't wait to see the movie either. Jim Carey is awesome in everything he does. Your son does look a lot like your dad. And what can a person like me say, but thanks. Thanks to you for your sacrifice and thanks to your son for his.
